In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely train him to be partly a human. The point is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. Edward Hoagland. |
Life used to be so easy. Tylene and I went where we wanted, when we wanted and, as a couple of Southern California DINKs, we lived a pretty carefree life. But there was a void...

Then along came Sally!
Of course, she wasn't an un-planned addition. We spent months researching breeds and discussing what we wanted in a dog. We wanted a tough, small dog with lots of personality, who would go on hikes with us, be a good family member, and let us know if the boogey man comes to the door. Then we saw a Westie at the local dog park and we were smitten. It took another few months to find just the right Westie.
Sally was the only pup in the litter born to "Misty". Misty lives with a really nice family with two young daughters in La Mesa, Ca. Sally still loves young girls and gets really excited if she sees them on our walks. Since she has always been the only puppy around, Sally's pretty sure that she is the center of the universe. That's OK because although she is kinda spoiled, she is very well behaved and we see no reason to make her feel any less special.
These pages are mostly for fun, but I'll try to pass along some information about our experiences with Sally and about Westies in general. They are unique dogs and not for everyone, but definitely for us!
Why Westies aren't for everyone!
