Sally's grown up!

Sally's nine months old here and although she's still officially a puppy, she's reached her adult size and appearance.  As you can see, she has the run of the house as well as the furniture.  Our philosophy is that she is a family member and should have access to almost all of the comforts that we do.  Westies don't shed and she's never chewed on any furniture so we see no reason to keep her off of it.  We try to remember not to leave small chewable articles like pens around as she still needs to chew.  We do give her rawhide chews, but only very thick ones that she can't just chew up and eat.  We don't feed her from the table as we're sure she would get really obnoxious if we did.
She has tremendous energy now.  We are lucky enough to be able to take her on long off-leash walks in the hills near our house.  We will go out for two hour "walks", during which she covers at least eight miles, often at a full run.  She prefers to play with dogs about twice her size, and will chase and wrestle with them until we think she will explode.  By the time we get home, she's recovered and wants to play some more.

Of course, after a hard day in the hills, she likes to relax in front of the tube.  She loves sports, especially if there's a ball involved, and animal shows.

Boy did I ever have to work for permission to use this picture but I thought it was worth the effort.

Tylene was really sick with the flu and Sally was her constant companion.  For the most part, Sally would just keep her company, but she would occasionally get the urge to play, which Tylene could not reciprocate.  Sally would present her with a  toy and start jumping and barking.  and Tylene would say: "No.  Not now." and Sally would get another toy and start jumping and barking and Tylene would say: "No..."  When I got home from work, Tylene was surrounded by an assortment of rubber twisties, balls and sticks from the yard.  Sally is nothing if not persistent.
